The color went in the direction a soft pink with pale strawberry traces. Very intense aromas of caramel, chocolate, woodland strawberries and flowers were on the nose. So many aromas that they were almost too many but only almost. I probably could have smelled this wine for hours without getting tired of it. It was that great. It was smooth and not very alcoholic on the palate. The acidity was soft. A well balanced wine. The finish was medium. Alcohol by volume was listed at 12.5%. A blend of mostly Nero D’avola with dollops of Merlot and Syrah. This is a big, easy-drinking introduction to the pleasures of Italian wine. Distinctly and unapologetically fruit-forward yet not simple. The fruit is draped over sufficient structure to keep it all interesting and the plum and cherry fruits benefit greatly from the distinct spicy notes that Syrah brings to the blend. Great with burgers.
Brilliant dark ruby color; the nose expresses intense aromas of fig, dark cherries, black plum and raspberry. On the palate, a soft, ripe fruit quality, full and lingering, supported by soft tannins. A wine well matched with red meat and cheese.
Plum, grilled meat and arugula aromas preface black fruit and animal-earthy flavors on the palate. Tannins aren't too aggressive, and the mouthfeel is round and smooth. Finishes a bit on the dry side, but with juicy fruit. A blend of 70% Merlot, 30% Nero d'Avola.
The 2002 Le Segreta Rosso, Nero d'Avola with Merlot and Syrah, a bright ruby in color, offers raspberry and red currant fruit, a slight herbaceousness, and a refreshing, light to medium-weight profile. It is a wine for early drinking.
Delicious, vibrant red with bright cherry, floral and berry character and a hint of milk chocolate. Medium-bodied, with light tannins and a fresh finish. Yummy. Nero d'Avola, Merlot, and Syrah. Drink now.
Dark in color, with youthful aromas of black plum and leather. Fruity and forward the palate, with plum and chocolate flavors. Yes, it's fairly tannic and heavy, but today most folks like a big, bulky wine that has something to say.
Good full, bright red. Intriguing nose melds black- and red currant, minerals and pepper, along with an exotic suggestion of curry powder. Sweet on entry, then firm and stylish in the middle palate, with noteworthy complexity of flavor. Lively and light on its feet. Finishes with firm-edged tannins that avoid dryness.
