Planeta Red Blend Sicilia IGT la Segreta Rosso 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Ruby red laden with purple hue. Red and black fruit exploding on the nose with redcurrant and cherry. Characteristic fierce hints of Nero d'Avola. Full, enfolding the palate with a pleasant softness and velvety tannin. A wine of open and communicative character; a friendly wine.

A blend of mostly Nero D'avola with dollops of Merlot and Syrah. This is a big, easy-drinking introduction to the pleasures of Italian wine. Distinctly and unapologetically fruit-forward yet not simple. The fruit is draped over sufficient structure to keep it all interesting and the plum and cherry fruits benefit greatly from the distinct spicy notes that Syrah brings to the blend. Great with burgers.
