Planeta Fiano Sicilia IGT Cometa 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

Planeta is now a world famous Italain producer. Planeta wines represent a journey through the whole of Sicily with vineyards dotted across the island from east to west. the Cometa is a great white wine from southern Italian grapes which can be compared with the most important white wines of the world. During the 1990’s this was the aim of Planeta's experiments with Fiano, a noble and ancient variety originating in Campania. Thus Cometa was born, expressing the characteristics of this extraordinary grape in an original and unique way. The wine is a straw yellow with evident green tints. The nose abounds with aromas of white flowers, thyme and camomile, as well as citrus hints of tangerine, lychee and mint. On the palate it is elegant and voluptuous, expressive and enveloping, and well supported by a fresh acidity. The mineral notes which well express the terroir give way to a full and progressive finish. This would be delicious with a carpaccio of raw and/or smoked fish, oysters and grilled shellfish.

Very juicy! Great stone fruit flavors. Really nice wine. - WS Grand Tour 2011
