12 months in small wood, all used From a plot below Margheria and Marenca that is only used for Langhe Nebbiolo. Intense cherry in alcohol on the nose with wildflower tones, a hint of pink peppercorn, some pencil eraser and touches of beef and camphor. Round in the mouth and sweet in a good way, this is full of soft polished tannins and dried cherry fruits with a sandalwood top note. It’s balanced, velvety and clear with pure wild cherry fruit and that light sandalwood tone consistent from start to finish 87pts

User Reviews for Pira Luigi

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2008 Barolo is one of the more interesting wines in its price range. It shows the richness of the house style and muscle of Serralunga along with an accessible personality that makes it a pure joy to taste. Dark cherries, plums, spices and new leather wrap around the insistent, powerful finish. Pira’s 2008 Barolo offers fabulous quality for the money. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2023... 91." WA 04/2012
