What to Expect

Champagne is specifically a sparkling wine made in the Champagne region of France; every other sparkling is simply that, sparkling wine. Made to be aged for a few to many years, in many languages "Champagne" is synonymous with "party". When young, Champagne exhibits the fresh fruit tones of its "cepage", or blend. Usually based on a blend the features either Chardonnay or Pinot Noir as its main ingredient, Champagne's fruit can range from citrusy to orchard fruits and even red berries. The wine gains distinct yeasty notes from its secondary fermentation, the one that adds the fizz, which is typically described as recalling brioche or bread. As it ages Champagne tends to lose its obvious fruit, which is replaced by subtle nutty tones and subdued elements of dried fruits.

A clean, slightly toasty Champagne with intricate bead and nice, fresh doughy and vanilla flavors.

The non-vintage Brut is a gorgeous pale straw yellow with tight rivulets of tiny bubbles. It is soft and creamy but still delightfully dry. Wonderful flavors of honey and strawberries, floral and vanilla notes, and a vibrant biscuity finish. Effervescent and lovely.

Piper-Heidsieck cuvee Brut combines 50 rigorously selected growths. Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes give cuvee Brut its earlier years are used to create a more rounded blend and ensure the originality of the Piper-Heidsieck style. The wine's harmony develops over the course of slow ageing in Piper-Heidsieck's chalk cellars. Toasty aromas leap from the glass in this deliciously mature wine. It is soft but still very dry, with acidity tamed by both fine, mature fruit and a creamy texture that sits well in the mouth. This is a very fine, tasty wine. -Wine Enthusiast A gorgeous, toasty read more...
