Pintia Toro 2005
In 1864, Eloy Lecanda founded the winery that symbolizes the golden legend of Spanish red wine. Throughout its long history, it has belonged to different owners, although it has always maintained an unquestionable personality, making concentrated, mature, generous and extremely elegant. Discover how a unique myth in European wine culture is forged.
still young, but very juicy and concentrated
Fab wine - sniffs of cherry and faint spices, tastes great: full bodied, complex (and a little rough still) - but great with a steak, deep purple in colour, and the cherry comes through in the taste.
I unfortunately no professional reviewer. I love this wine. It has a nice colour and texture; smooth. It has a lovely flavour, sweet but not overpoweringly sweet like an iced wine can be. It's able to complement desserts without drowning them out, or enjoyed after dinner on its own.

Dark ruby. Brooding, very ripe, lightly roasted dark berry and plum aromas tinged by expresso, bitter chocolate and wild herbs. Warm and toasty, with a strong oak spice accent to the roasted cherry and cassis flavors. With air, exotic oak spice and leather emerge, as well as solid, chunky tannins. Finishes ripe, deep and sweet, with strong berry liqueur and coffee flavors. Seriously ripe but also nicely balanced, the fruit just this side of roasted and compellingly sweet.

Bodegas Pintia is owned by Vega Sicilia. Pintia is located further west along the Duero River inside the warmer D.O. of Toro. The estate owns 96 hectares of land. The first vintage released was the 2001. As for the 2005 Pintia, it is 100% Tinta de Toro aged for one year in new French and American oak. Opaque purple-colored, it offers a complex perfume of pain grille, pencil lead, spice box, black cherry, and blackberry. This leads to a full-bodied, ripe, layered wine with intense flavors, serious complexity, and exceptional length. It has enough structure to unfold for another 4andndash;6 years and drink well through 2025.
Very young but exuberant and balanced. Tasted in Spain well after bottling but before its March 2008 release, Pintia, Vega Siciliaandrsquo;s Toro project, comes across as a bull of a wine with huge levels of color and extraction. Floral, mineral and violet aromas lead off, followed by deep berry fruit flavors and lots of rustic charred beef on the finish. Hold until 2009 and drink through 2014.
