What to Expect

Most closely associated with Hungary, Furmint is used in the production of that country's greatest wine: Tokaji. A rare grape that ripens with high acid and sugar levels, it is ideally suited to the production of sweet dessert wines, with its honied flavors of dried apricot. When bottled as a dry wine it may lack some aromatic intensity of many wines yet may be richly flavored with smoky mineral notes and lime edged pear fruit tones.

Winemakers Notes

As with other wines originating from the single Clos Windsbuhl vineyard (onethat famously missed out on 'Grand Cru' status due to not being submitted!),one's struck by the cool minerally energy, a wine that speaks more of the soilthan the fruit per se. The 10 month long ferment tailed off leaving an off-drystyle with 49 grams of residuel, yet the palate is fantastically focused,charged with bristling electricity, leaving an oh! so cleansing pear purity.Needs time, till 2014 to see its best. Great with creamy veal or white meatplatters.
