Pine Ridge Chenin/Viognier 2013
"The 2013 bottling of this distinctive blend opens with a dazzling spectrum of fruit and floral aromas, from crisp white peach, honeyed pear and sweet mango, to touches of fresh jasmine blossom and white chai tea. Filled with bright and juicy fruits, the palate flaunts flavors of succulent white nectarine, candied pineapple, green fig and subtle grapefruit. The crisp and slightly off-dry flavor profile lasts well through the clean and refreshing finish." -Winery
Editorial Reviews for Pine Ridge Chenin/Viognier
Rather clear and precise on the nose, with lemon, treacle, and honeycomb fruit topped with sweet, almost violet floral aromas and a mango top note. Creamy orange and lemon flavors and aromas pop on entry, followed by a nice hint of creamy honey and lightly spicy floral notes with an edge of peach on the back end that leads to a clean, clear and vibrant peach and Meyer lemon finish. This has a lovely texture with just a hint of richness draped over vibrant green plummy fruit. 88 points
Ripe pear with floral notes on the nose. Nice acidity and ripe fruit sweetness with a clean soft finish. Paired well with the spice meatballs my daughter brought for Christmas.
Christmas 2013, Binny's. I don't believe I got a sip of the first of two bottles of this wine. This happens a lot with white wine at our house in the summer. Mary requests a white and over the next few days it disappears. Nothing wrong with that, just tough to say anything about it or rate it. Maybe the next bottle will get to pass by my lips. Less than 50/50 chance. Got a glass from the second bottle, really nice flavor.
This is one of my absolute favorite , and go-to, white wines. The nose is light and grapefruitey. The taste is citrus fruit all around. My previous go-to, crowd pleasing White was Conundrum, but this wine has taken the top rank. It is somewhat more complex and satisfying than Conundrum, while being just as refreshing and satisfying. Furthermore, it is $13.50 for the Pine Ridge vs. $25+ for the Conundrum (in NYC).
Start to finish a good mix of flavors. Good balance of fruit, floral, earth, and neither sweet nor dry. Pleasant, somewhat lingering finish. A pear blend flavor at start heading more to the florals before the complex finish. (free tasting tonight at 4 Flights Wine Boutique; bought more than one bottle as an indication of how much enjoyed)
Decent enough chenin blanc/viognier with some light lemon zest, white grapefruit and subtle floral notes. Not much of a nose and not too complex but nice acidity and medium finish.

Pine Ridge Vineyards in the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley has been growing Chenin Blanc since they started out. It’s always been a good wine for them with nice acidity and citrus flavors but they discovered that when they blend in Viognier it takes on a whole new dimension. Now the wine is wildly popular and gets rave reviews every vintage. The blend is 80% Chenin Blanc and 20% Viognier. It shows bright tropical fruit flavors like mango and pineapple along with tangy citrus that's bright and lively. This 2013 earned a Gold Medal in the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. The 2012 scored 90 points from the Wine Advocate for the fourth consecutive year!
Floral and sweet on the nose, the Chenin Blanc-Viognier exhibits fragrant aromas of pear, lychee and melon, with a delicate touch of grapefruit, lime and mixed citrus. Sweet, bright flavors of lively citrus and pear are offered up along with a supple texture. The slightly off-dry finish is clean and crisp, marked with notes of red grapefruit. 80% Chenin Blanc and 20% Viognier

It shows hints of both varieties on the nose, honeydew melon attributable to Chenin and light, delicate wildflowers suggesting Viognier. Fresh, lively flavor, a hint of prickly, barely carbonated 'petillance' adds a refreshing vibe. Crisp white fruit and zippy lemon-lime last and last in a long, clean finish. A wonderful summer sipper, pleasantly slurpable at just 12.2% alcohol.
This extraordinary blend enchants the nose with a refreshing bouquet of succulent fruit and delicate florals, opening with juicy honeydew melon, sweet white peach, and ripe green plum touched with hints of spiced white tea and soft apple blossom. The vivacious palate leads with crisp yellow grapefruit, fresh-cut pineapple and sumptuous honeyed pear notes. Lush and lively fruit flavors linger through the clean and slightly off-dry finish.
