Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc Viognier 2007
Very impressive. Brilliant citrus flavor and ripped sweetness of fruit with clear/smooth acidity. I've never drink this kind of white wine, and really appreciate to the excellent job!
Apricot, pear, melon and plenty of tropical goodness. Killer nose and the finish is a sweet, lingering one. I don't get as much of the viognier as I'd like and it almost approaches apertif-y territory, but served as a nice break from NZ sav. blancs.
I picked up a bottle of this at a local wine tasting where we were tasting blends. I wasn't exceptionally impressed at the tasting because, I suspect, I was so impressed with the Evolution. However, I finally got around to trying the bottle I bought with a light lunch salad and found it really nice. It is a little on the sweet side but not cloying. It has a nice green bouquet that goes well with ham, turkey and cheddar on a bed of iceberg lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes with a balsamic vinegar dressing. It would probably also go well with spicy asian cuisine.

Wine Advocate Review2007 Chenin Blanc/Viognier is a beauty, very perfumed (flowers, melons, tropical fruits), medium-bodied, super pure, with no oak and a dry, crisp finish. Drink it over the next year.Wine Tasting NotesFloral and sweet, the Chenin Blanc-Viognier exhibits fragrant aromas of pear and peach, with a delicate touch of lychee and grapefruit . Sweet, bright flavors of citrus and pear are offered up along with a supple texture. The clean, crisp finish is marked with notes of grapefruit peel. Enjoy now or cellar for two years.
