- 53% Shiraz, 37% Cabernet, 10% Merlot Pillar Box red is an opaque red/black color with a scarlet rim. It displays aromas of sweet, ripe red berries, underpinned cinnamon spice and dark chocolate. The palate is rich and fleshy with vibrant raspberry and blackcurrant fruit intertwined with a citrus-like cedary oak complexity. The tannins are full yet soft and supple, combined with the gentle acidity to produce a lingering, harmonious finish.

- NOSE: a little shiraz, ripe cherries, maybe more. PALATE: low acidity, slight sugar - less than Cousino Macul but more than Barrel Monkeys. Salty/savory, in the direction of rare steak. Smooth finish, low tannins. Good, unflawed finish. Fruit filled mid-palate. OVERALL: This was a good wine, not that interesting to me on the nose, not offensive. I missed the tannins. Didn't do anything exciting with any of the thanksgiving fare.

- This red opened my palate to experience more reds (not being usually a red indulger)!

- This bottle started out too acidic and hot for me, but at Day 3, it opened up nicely for me. I still believe it would be better in a few years or with longer decanting. It had massive raspberries and plums. A bit of sweetness, which I don't mind. For the price, its got great QPR - but for the same price point, I was more drawn to the 2006 Chakana Cab Sauv from Argentina.
