What to Expect

Pinot Grigio is one of the world's most popular wines. Also known under the French moniker "Pinot Gris", and even the German "Ruländer" among others, Pinot Grigio is a chameleon of a grape. It is produced in a range of styles, from the light fruity Italian style that has gained popularity, to a more mineral, flinty rich wine favored by the French - particularly in Alsace - and emulated by many in the new world.

Rating: 16/20 - As reviewed by Jancis Robinson Rather Germanic on the nose. Very lively, rather salty and extremely distinctive and very dry - drier than any other Pinot Gris. Racy - good aperitif.

The Pike & Joyce vineyard, high up in the Adelaide Hills outside of the town of Lenswood, is a very special place. The steep slopes only permit hand pruning and harvesting. The fruit exhibits great intensity and purity. This '06 Pinot Gris is a beauty. Clean and fresh nectarine and pear flavors leap out of the glass. Hints of stone and flint linger all the way to the vibrant and long finish. This wine is both intensely flavored and wonderfully elegant. One of the best New World Pinot Gris's you are ever likely to taste. Enjoy whilst it is young and frisky.
