Pierre Sparr Gewürztraminer Alsace Réserve 2008
This 14-karat gold, unoaked French white smells of apples and oranges. The sip is mostly sweet. Medium is a good overall description - medium body, medium taste, medium white wine. The acidity paired well with a moderately spicy dish of cajun chicken, and at $9, I practically stole it from my wine merchant!
Bright yellow-gold, with aromas of citrus, yellow melon and canned white fruit, flavor notes of green apple, melon rind with heavy mineral and wet rock, off-dry with acidity that carries this wine to a memorable finish. Spice is nice, and fresh is best! A terrific food-wine value!!
The low-end Pierre Sparr Gewurz but still a good value for the money. I paid $12.95. On the back label, Pierre Sparr indicates the level of sweetness. On the scale of 1 to 9 (with 9 being the sweetest) this wine is rated a 2. In typical Alsatian style, it has distinctive floral aromas. Lychee and notes of spice are evident. The taste is very smooth and clean on the palate. Melon, lychee, and peach are pronounced tastes.

A textbook Gewürztraminer, displaying the rose, litchi and grapefruit peel flavors characteristic of the grape. Medium-bodied and well-balanced, its enjoyable on its own. Drink now.
A Pinot Blanc wine from Alsace in France. 2008 Pierre Sparr Pinot Blanc Reserve 750ml
Although this wine is missing the seductive nose of many Gewürztraminers, it is impressive in the mouth with a rich texture and intense notes of rose water and cloves. Slight residual sugar and soft acidity make it a good partner for seafood in a fruit-based preparation.
