Pierre Sparr Cremant d'Alsace Rose Brut 1988

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Apples along with a bit of sweet cinnamon spice greet the nose followed by floral accents and a low touch of dried meatiness and candlewax. Round, relatively large scaled and moderately fruity in the mouth, this feels supple yet bright with a hint of raspberries playing off the core of slightly citrussy pith accented pear fruit. Gentle touches of mineral and yeastiness accent the midplate nicely and layer on complexity right through the moderately long and attractively fresh finish. 87pts

Here’s a delightful dry sparkler, Cremant D'Alsace Rose from Pierre Sparr. Sparr is one of the oldest producers in Alsace and the estate has vast vineyard holdings in the region. This Cremant is produced in the champagne method with the second fermentation in the bottle resulting in velvety cascading bubbles. 100% Pinot Noir from mature vines, the Wine Enthusiast described this incredible value wine as "Complex and spicy, with aromas of orange peel and clove complementing currant and citrus fruit in the mouth. There is more intensity of flavor here than one has a right to expect at this price point. Perfect as an apéritif." Now On Sale!
