Pierre Savoye Morgon Cote du Py Gamay Beaujolais France 2009
The color gets you straight away. Its bright color is reminiscent of cranberry meets ruby, but hold on to your hat when you go in for the aromatics! Dark cherry and cedar yes, but then something smokey and earthy, and then the fruit came back with more focus than before...amazing. The palate seems to be in the middle of a black cherry and raspberry forest! It was fresh and lively. The finish was bright and zippy the way a Cru Beaujolais should be.
The total area of the domaine is 11 hectares, distributed in different parcels located in the districts of Monthelie, Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, and, of course Meursault. All the vineyards were cultivated following organic agricultural practices from 1992 to 1997, at the end of this period the domaine became 100% biodynamic.
