Pierre Gaillard Cote-Rotie Rose Pourpre 2005
Winemaker's Notes:
"Not surprisingly, the 2005s are tannic longer-term wines with a style not<br/>dissimilar from the Cote Roties of 1995, which were tannic and backward, yet<br/>for the most part have never come around. As for the top cuvee, the dense, dark<br/>ruby/purple 2005 Cote Rotie Rose Pourpre displays smoky, olive notes intermixed<br/>with spicy new oak, creme de cassis, licorice, and incense. The wine is<br/>full-bodied, powerful, and very backward and tannic. The purity is there, the<br/>texture is there, so I suspect this is one that will come through in good form<br/>and possibly be better than my initial rating."<br/><br/>(Robert Parker - Wine Advocate - Apr -2007)

The total area of the domaine is 11 hectares, distributed in different parcels located in the districts of Monthelie, Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, and, of course Meursault. All the vineyards were cultivated following organic agricultural practices from 1992 to 1997, at the end of this period the domaine became 100% biodynamic.
