Food Pairings for Pierre Chanau Morgon Maison Thorin
My dad picked up this wine when he was stationed in Europe in 2002 and it has been cellared since. After allowing the wine to breathe for about 30 minutes we began to taste it and the results were surprising. This was unlike any Beaujolais I have ever tried. The bouquet of this wine had a potent earthy character that was reminiscent of truffles. On the palate the wine showed black cherry and currant flavors accented with a small hint of spice. A slight toasty oak presence was noticeable as well. Firm tannins. This wine is proof positive to me that Cru Beaujolais has the potential to age well for nearly a decade. I am looking forward to the next chance I get to taste some older Morgon like this one.
