Pierre Andre Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Corton is the largest area of Grands Crus in Burgundy. This terroir also called la montagne (the mountain) in the Aloxe-Corton area produces the best red wines of Côte de Beaune. At the top of the hill, Corton-Charlemagne is a great white Burgundy wine, fully the equal of the premier crus and Grand Crus of Chassagne and Puligny Montrachet. The appellation has a long and grand history demonstrated by its association with the Emperor Charlemagne who owned it over 1300 years ago. Today the reputation hasn't faded at all and if you try this great bottle from the 2009 you will see for yourself.

This is a well-integrated medium-bodied wine with cassis herbs and pepper on the nose. On the palate the flavors of ripe black plum and red raspberries tickle the taste buds. The finish has balanced tannins with black licorice and spice making it a great match with chicken or turkey cooked with herbs.
