Pierre Amadieu Red Rhone Blend Vacqueyras la Grangeliére 2010
The full bodied wine is aged 9 months in barrels (50% in new oak) whereas the fruity one is kept in big oak casks to soften the tannins. The combination of both characters is very subtle: soft oaky taste and fruity scents. Fragrances of small red fruits develop in mouth a wide palate of spicy and peppery notes. The pleasant taste of this "cru" will enhance the flavours of a leg of lamb with sage or cheeses... Drink at room temperature while young or within the next 5 years.
AUD$20 from Prince Wine Store, imported by Cellarhand. Med+ to intense dark ruby color. A blend of Grenache and Syrah, this opens with a restrained nose, initially crushed dry herbs, then a waft of anise before cranberry and red currant aromas. Dry, medium bodied wine with velvety texture, high acidity that isn’t on the forefront. 13.5% alc. Powdery tannins linger on the finish, almost dusty cocao in nature. Pierre Amadieu is a well-regarded producer of Gigondas. Drink now. Easy drinking with flavours of red berries. Great with roasted pumpkin, zucchini and eggplant with hommus spread.
big nose of blackberries.....very bold on the palatte with minimal tannins and great acidity. long lasting finish.
