Wine was one of the biggest productions and source of enrichment in the roman empire. This trade was the most important one, as the italy could not assume its own consuption. The culture of the vines itself was different : different sorts of pergolas, vines growing on trees and another philosophy of the plant considering as it was more than a vegetal. Sometimes vines were married with trees to take their strength. Many sorts of wines existed in roman antiquity, from ones from a single place, family of wines with local interpretations or aromatised recipes. Two things let the use of drinking wine growing : creation of a social hierarchy in Rome and use of wine as a medicine. As important and rich people tryed to be unique and receive there hosts with luxury, some famous people have elaborated a taste hierarchy between the wines. Quite floral on the nose and quite complex with notes of pencil lead, smoke, black currant, vanilla, and green olive – soft in the mouth, tannins turn a touch stiff on the mid-palate, almost elegant with a silky overall feel, nicely balanced, good focus and fine length to the fresh black fruit (91-92)

Deep red, purple hue. Characteristic Bordeaux nose. Pauillac nose. Nicely balanced, extracted style. Smoky, dark cocoa. Stone, with red and black fruit. Good structure and flavor. Very nice. - Blind tasted 9/15/10

(74% cabernet sauvignon and 26% merlot) Bright ruby-red. Very pure aromas of cassis, minerals, licorice and bitter chocolate, all lifted by a note of violet. Sweet, broad and round for the vintage, with lovely energy to the flavors of cassis, chocola... Stephen Tanzer's IWC.

Lovely dark color. Intense fine pure and noble nose. Upon swirling it becomes fruity and more floral. Smelling of blackcurrant and especially offering the typical nose of a great medoc. Pulpy on entry. Bravo The wine develops melting and aromatic with smoothness and a fine tannic grain. Tasty it finishes finely weaved with the general profile and taste of a great wine. It has never been so close to the style of Chateau Latour. Noble tannins. Jean-Marc Quarin - www.quarin.com
