Piccini Sasso Al Poggio Toscana IGT 2007

Member Review by jaywalia:

My first 'Super Tuscan' and boy did it pack a punch. Deep garnet in colour. On the nose I got what you'd expect from a good Chianti, blackberries, spices(pepper in particular) and earthy aromas. However on the palate a more robust flavour than a normal Chianti comes to fore. the astringent tannins were more pronounced(a by product of the Cab Sauvignon Im sure) Merlot seems to gel the two hard flavours of the Sangiovese & Cab Sauvignon grape. Jammy, peppery, acidic, medium to long finish. Can be cellared for another few more years. Still pretty good to drink now too.
