A sangiovese and canaiolo product, it's a typical Chianti wine. It starts soft and blossoms on the tongue with peppery notes and a variety of heartier fruits. It avoids being too harsh and finishes surprisingly clean for a "budget" wine. As with most Chiantis, it is much better taken while eating - particular favorites are pizzas and cheese-filled pastas with heartier sauces - than by itself. A solid buy for the frugal drinker.

A typical Chianti wine; a bit spicier and drier than other varieties. It starts soft and blossoms on the tongue with peppery notes and a variety of heartier fruits. It avoids being too harsh and finishes surprisingly clean for a "budget" wine; I purchased it for around US$10 sometime between 2006 and 2007. As with most Chiantis, it is much better taken while eating - personal favorites are deluxe pizzas and cheese-filled pastas with heartier sauces - than by itself. I believe it particularly suited to a "spuntino" (snack) of salame e formaggio. A solid buy for the frugal drinker, but of deceptive quality for the smart host.
