Piaggia Il Sasso Carmignano Tuscany Italy Sangiovese Blend 2006

What a surprise since I picked this up after reading a brief article on Carmignano and thought to taste one. Amazing nose that reads like a basket of red fruit. First it's raspberry, then wild berries and then cherry cough drops followed up by cedar and saddle leather. The palate reveals sour cherries, creme fraiche and clove. Medium body with wonderfully brisk acidity and a nice long red berry finish.
