...Wild, gamey aromas of black cherry, black olive, tobacco and iron. Lush, thick and sweet, with a lovely pliant texture. Cherry and raspberry flavors complicated by slightly sauvage notes of roasted meat, tobacco and minerals... Stephen Tanzer. A Cabernet Sauvignon wine from California in USA. 1997 Togni, Philip Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml

Winemaker's Notes:

We are also offering the ten year old ’97 Cabernet. Here is a wine that will benefit from more time in the bottle, but – for a price – we have lifted you ten years along the aging pathway. In Issue #126 of the Wine Advocate, Parker wrote, “The glorious 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon (a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc) is the most opulently-textured Togni offering since his 1992. It possesses a saturated purple color in addition to a thrilling but still reticent nose of blackberries, cassis, minerals, dried herbs, and smoky oak. Full-bodied, pure, thick, and creamy-textured, this wine's superb concentration conceals its lofty, but sweet tannin. Togni's wines possess exceptional aging potential, but it will be hard to keep your hands off this one after it has had another 2-4 years of bottle age. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2025+.” (94 points.)
