Pretty on the nose, and while the oak is a bit prominent, this has lovely nuanced herbal and nutty, almost cooked vegetable beet root and parsnip aromas. Tight and light on entry, there's terrific substance here but you really have to coax it out, there is great vibrancy to what is here, and it comes of as very classic, and while it probably won't be terribly long lived, this will be fascinating to follow, ripe tannins but plenty of them support good length on the very fresh finish. 92pts
Very oaky, smoky, dried tomato, menthol, licorice, a touch pruny with cocoa notes – sweet, really sweet like pastry glaze, soft and weighty in the mouth, has plenty of rich fruit but too much extracted, dry tannin too, lots of depth to the honey and cocoa tinged dark fruit but those tannins clamp down quickly on the short finish (87-88)
Herbaceous and vegetal on the nose with an underlying woody sweetness – indistinct in the mouth with nice richness but not much focus, acid is acceptable, tannins really build up, sort of just lays across the palate, (81-82)
While sharing some traits with the Cos this has a much redder fruit profile, a bit more towards cooked grenadine with complicating notes of oak and licorice but ultimately returning to strong notes of crushed berries. Richer and softer in the mouth than the Cos this is just opening and while it is a bit on the tough and astringent side it offers up a good core of fresh red fruit with excellent sustain through the finish. Not alot of complexity but fresh and delicious. 2007-2020
Sehr fein! Elegant, wenig Holz, ausgezeichnet. Auch hier: Die Tannine werden nur noch feiner. Spitzenjahrgang 09er hat auch hier nicht enttäuscht.

Sweet dark fruit nose. Cassis. Lots of tabac. Closed with a potent finish. Lots of potential here.
Vanilla/oak on the nose. Red berries, pepper, and tobacco in the mouth.
This one's got some sweet and resinous notes on the nose. Deep oak and ample structure give this a smoky quality that isn't too invasive with its tannins.
Notes of black cherry and burned wood. A bit grassy, woodsy and farmy. Not a favorite of mine, but very interesting to try.
Tobacco, earth. Straw aroma, green, and dry leaves.

A wine with blueberry and mineral character and hints of cedar. Full and silky with a lovely texture of tannins for the vintage. Seamless tannins. James Suckling. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2011 Phelan-Segur 6000ml
Nice and vivid color. The nose is fruity discreet and of ripe fruit type. Smooth finely pulpy and very fruity on the palate it finishes tasty on lovely tannins and medium length. No rusticity whatsoever and that's the news Michel Rolland acts as consultant since 2006. A success of the vintage. Jean-Marc Quarin - www.quarin.com
The Phelan-Segur has an attractive bouquet with crisp blackberry and floral aromas, pretty in a similar way to Lilian Ladouys. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp chalky tannins. The oak is well integrated with fine acidity, the finish foursquare ... Neal Martins Wine Journal. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2011 Phelan-Segur 6000ml
Fleshy and inviting, with bittersweet cocoa, roasted tobacco, black currant preserve and warm fig sauce notes all defined and well-supported by dusty tannins. -J.M. Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2010 Phelan-Segur 6000ml
51% cabernet sauvignon, 49% merlot. With an average age of 35 years, the vines are planted on gravel and clay soils with 40 hl/ha. Classic cabernet sauvignon aromas of blackberry dominate the nose, along with secondary notes of fresh turned earth, ba... Andy Frieden. Composed of 58% cabernet sauvignon 40% merlot and 2% cabernet franc with 50% aged in new oak. Dark purple in color with slight garnet hues the aromas are rich of boysenberry raspberry and spice with candied fruit and jammy notes following. The wine is medium to full bodied with abundant tannins and has a clean mouth feel. This is a tremendous value worth purchasing. Give it another 2-3 years and enjoy over the following 15+ years. Jeff Loo.
Medium bright red-ruby. Wild musky aromas of black raspberry smoky oak and crushed rock. Broad silky dry and laid-back with a subtle sweetness to its complex flavors of dark berries licorice herbs and black olive. Finishes ripe and smooth with big fine-grained tannins and excellent breadth and length. An excellent vintage for this chateau. Stephen Tanzers IWC.
