Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Tasting Notes Foppiano Vineyards, situated in Sonoma County's Russian River Valley, has been owned by the Foppiano family since 1896. This estate-grown Petite Sirah, our hallmark varietal, offers a huge structure with deep rich purple color, complex aromas of spices and black pepper, and concentrated flavors of ripe berries and chocolate from the inviting nose to a rich silky finish. This wine really rocks.

Big and spicy on the nose with that dark, slightly earth, slightly spice core of fruit you typically get from Petite. In the mouth this is dark and palate staining with stiff, chewy tannins and nice acids giving this impressive volume. Up front this reveals more complexity than on the mid-palate with forest floor perfumes and a touch of wood spice perking things up a bit. the mid-palate is chunky and a bit mysterious before returning to violet tinged blue fruits on the backend. This is solid if a bit stoic today, but with the right foods, grilled and barbecued meats for example, this is a classic match. 89pts

amazingly i get an initial palate attack of horseradish. this blew after after an hour. this wine must certainly be decanted at this point but it's drinking great. Red starbursts meet hot white chocolate with cocoa shavings. nice mild toasty oak tannins. not too much of a finish but that's okay. pair this with a honking piece of meat.

The Pet is full-bodied and deeply colored. In the nose, the Petite offers black fruit aromas, which are well met on the palate with blackberry and blueberry flavors, as well as toasty vanilla, exotic spices, and hints of cocoa on the finish. - Winery ** SOLD OUT **
