- Pale color. Pungent aromas of grapefruit and minerals. Dense, full and almost painfully concentrated, with intense grapefruit, crushed stone and mineral flavors complicated by nuances of gooseberry and honeysuckle, as well as some rounder notes of quince and apricot. This wine features 12% semillon, the highest percentage to date in this cuvee, and saw less than 15% new oak. Finishes juicy, gripping and wonderfully long. On this day, I cannot recall ever having tasted a more impressive bottle of sauvignon blanc from the New World.
