Peter Michael Chardonnay Knights Valley Mon Plaisir 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

96-98 points Robert Parker: The 2015 Chardonnay Mon Plaisir, another much smaller cuvée of only 1,290 cases versus the 1,826 in 2014, is made from Old Wente as well as Montrachet-sourced clones of Chardonnay. The 2015 Mon Plaisir is concentrated with notes of white peach, mango, pineapple jam and honeysuckle. It is intense, full-bodied, with less minerality and more tropical fruit than La Carrière. Anticipated maturity: now-2025. (Oct 2016)

The 2003 Chardonnay Mon Plaisir offers wonderful lemon butter and tropical fruit notes with hints of brioche and hazelnut. It is a broad, flavorful, concentrated, lush, heady Chardonnay to drink over the next 4-5 years. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. A Chardonnay wine from California in USA. 2003 Michael Winery, Peter Chardonnay Mon Plaisir 750ml

Tremendous; packs in lots of flavor and offers plenty of finesse. It exhibits wonderful aromas of blossoming flowers, ripe pear, fig, apricot and citrus fruit with an opulent, rich mouthfeel that coats the palate. Despite all the up-front fruit and richness, this is an elegantly styled wine. To be released September 2004. Drink now through 2008.

There are 1,240 cases of the 2002 Chardonnay Mon Plaisir. Produced from fruit grown in Jess Jacksonrsquo;s Alexander Mountain estate vineyard, it is a full-bodied, beautifully textured, opulent effort revealing notes of honeyed pineapple, orange marmalade, and oily flavors backed up by zesty acidity. This big, rich, exuberant Chardonnay is already purring on all cylinders. Drink it over the next 3ndash;5 years.

Scents of freshly churned butter show off the malolactic influence on this wine, as does the fleshy, round texture, fat as long-cooked pork belly. For all its bold pear-like fruit, potent leesiness and warmth, the wine is balanced on a large scale.

There are 2,021 cases of the 2000 Chardonnay Belle Cote, which is produced from three clones of Chardonnay, the Wente, Rued, and See. Approximately 60% new French oak was used by former winemaker Vanessa Wong. This lightweight effort reveals a greenish hue to the light gold color. While the aromatics are terrific, they are deceptive as the wine does not possess comparable richness or length. It is well-defined, with honeyed citrus characteristics, noticeable acidity, and a surprisingly short finish. Lemon zest and citrus are the dominant flavor components, with the wood kept in the background.

Faintly hazy appearance. Aromas of white flowers, grapefruit, lemon candy and wet stone. Bright but shy, with good mouth feel but only moderate flavor development and intensity. Comes across as slightly hard-edged today, with some acidity yet to be a... Stephen Tanzer. A Chardonnay wine from California in USA. 2000 Michael Winery, Peter Chardonnay la Carriere 750ml

I found the 2000 Chardonnay Mon Plaisir to be extremely tart, high in acid, light to medium-bodied, and nearly under-ripe. Readers who enjoy extremely tart Chardonnays will rate it higher than I did.
