Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

User Reviews for Peter Michael Chardonnay Knights Valley Cuvée Indigene

Winemaker's Notes:

As the oldest of three Peter Michael estate Chardonnay vineyards, Belle Côte exemplifi es how consistently these mountain vineyard sites produce exceptionally high quality Chardonnay. Given the naturally cool climate of the vineyard’s high elevation, and the fact that the site is sheltered from the hot afternoon sun by its southeastern exposure and a stand of trees on its western border, the vines are exceptionally slow to ripen. For this site, the growing season typically extends into October (two to three weeks longer than most Chardonnay vineyards in Napa and Sonoma counties). Distinctly intense and powerfully hedonistic aromas of lychee nuts, citrus and rose petals come to mind with a background of mineral, candied orange, yellow peach, nutmeg and a fi nal touch of cedar. Weighty in the mouth and creamy, the palate is rich and seamless. High natural acidity and notes of brioche and pain grillé complete the mouth feel. 100% naturally fermented using native yeast 100% barrel fermented (French oak, selected artisan coopers) Barrel aged sur lies 11 months with weekly bâtonnage Bottled without fi ning or fi ltration in January 30, 2008 Alcohol 14.5 %

Tasting Notes:

The 2001 La Carriere may be the best vintage so far. The terroir driven minerality is evident; wet river stone and baking Hour come to mind. These elements are highlighted with citrus notes of lemon and lime with a toasty background of pain-grille. The exquisite elegance is equally rewarding on the palate. The wine is rich and smooth without being too powerful. The mineral core of this wine will allow it to age well over the next 7-10 years like its Burgundian cousins.
