Peter Michael Chardonnay Knights Valley Belle Côte 1999

Winemaker's Notes:

he wine is a selection of the best barrels of our Richard Dinner Vineyard Chardonnay. With loads of opulent fruit balanced by the crisp mineral texture that gently rolls along the palate, this is an elegant wine, appropriate for the most special of dining experiences. Alcohol 14.3%

Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

The fourth vintage for this estate's Belle Cote Chardonnay, the 1999 was produced from three clones of Chardonnay (the Old Wente, Rued, and See). Most of the fermentation was by indigenous yeast, and the wine was aged in 53% new French oak prior to being bottled with neither fining nor filtration. It reveals gorgeous aromas and flavors of tropical fruits, lemon zest, pears, and minerals. This authoritatively rich, complex, elegant Chardonnay is medium-bodied, well-delineated, and beautifully concentrated, with exotic floral and spice notes in addition to well-integrated oak.

Explosive aromas of gingery spice and exotic dried peach. Dense but unforthcoming, with strong acidity contributing to the impression of dryness. Rather dominated by its spine today. Finishes with very good but not outstanding length. 89 points Stephen Tanzer. A Chardonnay wine from California in USA. 1999 Peter Michael Winery Chardonnay Crete d'Or 750ml
