What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Winemakers Notes

Aromas of candied orange, lemon drop,
yellow peaches, dry
apricot, dry fig, subtle
white truffle and Mirabelle plum interact with
touches of vanilla and elements of meringue
and crème-brûlée to form this remarkable,
multi-layered and intense bouquet. Complexity,
richness, ample “gras” and concentration characterize
the palate of this spectacular edition of
Cuvée Indigène promises to age gracefully for
at least a decade.

Reviews

Rating: 94/100 - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 132, May/June 2007 ($110) Yellow-gold. Intense smoke- and lees-influenced aromas of pear, quince and tangerine, with strong mineral and licorice accents. Powerful and broad on the palate, with ripe but focused pit fruit and citrus flavors, complicated by honeycomb and chamomile. One of the most soil-driven California chardonnays I've ever tasted, with outstanding focus and depth. Finishes on a deep, pungent note of licorice root.
