Peter Lehmann Sémillon Barossa 2008
The Barossa is an ideal region for late harvest style white wines given the quality of Semillon in the region and the warm weather conditions that continue well into late vintage. The lifted nose of this wine shows classic botrytis marmalade characters and deep honey notes. This is a wine of a remarkable intensity with superb weight of luscious honeyed fruit on the middle palate. This richness is beautifully counter-balanced by natural acidity and it finishes with a delightfully clean complexity. Botrytis Semillon is a very versatile wine style. It is naturally thought of as a dessert wine and is of course a perfect choice. We also love to serve it with cheese, particularly soft, ripe cheeses and good blue cheese accompanied by fresh fruit. It is the only wine for a lazy scrambled egg and smoked salmon Sunday brunch!
