Peter Franus Zinfandel Napa Valley(2002)
"Rich, very ripe, fully fruited and always showing a good sense of control, this berry-filled wine is decked out with plenty of sweet oak and is close to chewy in texture. All of its richness comes at the cost of fairly obvious heat, and it ends with slightly grippy tannins. It never relents in its expression of fruit, however, and it stays squarely on the varietal path. Many Cabernets would love to see the deep, dark, ruby displayed in this wine. Creamy cinnamon, white pepper notes, rose petal and sweet vanilla overtones lead you in to an extravaganza of cassis, boysenberry, and blueberry jam. read more...
