This is my first Peter Franus wine and was a great experience. The wine won Best Zinfandel of 2008 in Wine and Spirits. Blueberry and lots of Indian spices on the nose. Dark ruby in color. Beautiful textured blueberry fruits thickly coated with a load of spices and smoky tobacco. Spicy McSpicy here. Great finish. Great wine.

Peter Franus consistently makes spicy, full bodied wines. The first thing I smell on this one is cedar followed by black fruit, a bit of coffee. The finish lingers forever with hints of herb. Would be great with grilled flank steak. Great value!

Dark color in the glass with aromas of black currants, beef broth, cinnamon, and fresh cracked black pepper. The palate shows brambly wild berries, clove and distinct black pepper in the back of the mouth with a firm tannin and acid structure. The finish is very long and enjoyable

Peter Franus 2007- Brandlin Vineyard Mount Veeder Zinfandel is an ashtonishing accomplishment and a great value. Big, bold and well structured; it shows aromas of dry raisins, black cherries, lavender and rosemary. It's a full body, silky, glycerin-like textured wine with soft tannins and a very long finish. A bit high in alcohol but very well rounded.

Initial intense note of fresh ground black pepper. Nearly demands to be consumed with red meat. It's the American wine version of Seak Aux Poivre.
