Peter Franus Zinfandel Mt. Veeder Brandlin Vineyard 2005
Peter Franus consistently makes spicy, full bodied wines. The first thing I smell on this one is cedar followed by black fruit, a bit of coffee. The finish lingers forever with hints of herb. Would be great with grilled flank steak. Great value!Add winemaker's notes

Dark color in the glass with aromas of black currants, beef broth, cinnamon, and fresh cracked black pepper. The palate shows brambly wild berries, clove and distinct black pepper in the back of the mouth with a firm tannin and acid structure. The finish is very long and enjoyable
Peter Franus 2007- Brandlin Vineyard Mount Veeder Zinfandel is an ashtonishing accomplishment and a great value. Big, bold and well structured; it shows aromas of dry raisins, black cherries, lavender and rosemary. It's a full body, silky, glycerin-like textured wine with soft tannins and a very long finish. A bit high in alcohol but very well rounded.
Initial intense note of fresh ground black pepper. Nearly demands to be consumed with red meat. It's the American wine version of Seak Aux Poivre.
