Perrin & Fils Vinsobres les Cornuds 2009

Member Review by zufrieden:

For a typical southern Rhone Village wine, it does not usually get much better: this Vinsobres is deep cherry red with a nose redolent with blueberry and a tannic depth supported by a solid red fruit core on the palate. Some meaty notes as well with good grip. There is that gentle, silky acerbity that courts one to age the wine for a year or two longer. But why wait? Excellent value. 90 points.

A young, tight fruit-driven nose, rather like Gamay. A strong, bracing violet note. Dark plum flavors, as well as blackberry, some anise and a strong, tangy iron edge. Big and brash. Needs food for sure.

Still tightly wound, with an almost bracing violet note leading the way ... Drink now through 2016. -JM

A blend of equal parts Grenache and Syrah, the 2009 Perrin et Fils Cotes du Rhone Villages Vinsobres Les Cornuds reveals abundant aromas of crushed rocks, spring flowers and blue as well as black fruits in its darker, more cool climate style.
