Perrin & Fils Vacqueyras les Christins 2007
Member Reviews for Perrin & Fils Vacqueyras les Christins
Add your reviewContinuing my bottom-up exploration of the Southern Rhone 2007 vintage, I move to Perrin et fils Rasteau. I may be missing something here, but there is nothing particularly engaging on the nose - perhaps a hint of violet and plum sauce? The color is good and upon entry, there is a smooth, lacy tannin and plum hitting mid-palate with good balance and decent fruit core. A little disappointing given the WS score of 90, but a very worthy wine for 19 dollars. Buy a case and drink up within 6 months.
Meaty, fleshy nose with subtle hints of blackberry. Medium bodied with a sweet, fruity finish
Cork 14.5%abv Grenache 75% & Shiraz25% $35.00 Clarity:clear and deep red/purple in colour with a garnet hue. Nose:pronounced raspberry/plum (almost full red fruit spectrum) uplifted by a hint of violet and an earthy/spicey note floating around the background, slight waft of wood shavings. Palate:Dry wine with medium acidity, medium plus tannins, raspberry, violet and spice quite a complex wine as it seems to change in the glass. Flavor intense with nice long finish. The finish on this wine just goes on and on however with the complexity of this wine I think it would be brought out a little better with a food to match. I love this wine and the region it's self is new to AOC only receiving AOC in the 90's. I think this region and it's wine has a lot to offer and I will actively seek it out. 3.5 out of 5

Very pure, with superracy red cherry, raspberry and violet notes that stretch out through the lengthy, graphite-filled finish. There’s lovely, integrated acidity. Delicious. Drink now through 2011.

Another equal part blend of Syrah and Grenache is the 2007 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Vinsobres Les Cornuds, also from estate vineyards planted in limestone soils. The freshness of the vintage is well-displayed along with bracing acidity that buttresses substantial concentration, medium to full body, and a big, blue and black fruit-scented nose revealing hints of truffles, crushed rocks, violets, and spice.
