Decanted half an hour before serving. A slightly purple color in the glass. On the nose this wine starts off with great fruit accented by earthiness and a trace of floral character. On the palate this wine is an explosion of lush, dark fruits with layers of oak and a slight amount of spiciness. The medium level tannins are refined and do not overpower at all. A smooth, medium body. This wine eases into the decently long finish with good balance. I really enjoyed this wine and for only $30 I think it is a great sampling of the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation.
Decanted with Venturi. Really opened up after it warmed a little from the wine fridge. Strawberry and red cherry nose. More fruit forward than expected from South Rhone. Terroir more apparent in the finish with a earth and herbs on the palate and a lasting finish. Great for the price!
Considering the price, this wine was an outstanding value. Balanced, food-friendly.... not overly complex, but pleasant enough that we easily finished the bottle.
