Perrier Jouët Vintage 1998
In 1811 Pierre-Nicolas-Marie Perrier established Perrier-Jouët, adding the maiden name of his wife, Ad le Jouët, to name the house. Based in the town of Épernay, Perrier-Jouët expanded rapidly and have been exporting to the UK since 1815. The brut style that emerged with the second generation, son Charles Perrier, was hailed as a radical success. It was a style that was soon adopted by other producers in the rest of the region. The Vintage 1998 is dominated by Chardonnay from the village of Cramant and with a small amount of Pinot Noir, complimented by a touch of Pinot Meurnier this gives this champagne its finesse and elegance. With notes of toast and brioche on the nose, good acidity and white fruit with a lemon edge on the palate. This wine also has great potential to age.
