- this wine. For the past few years, I have been busy sampling Champagnes from other houses, but now I've come home to Perrier-Jouet again. Suggested retail is $32, but I regularly see (and buy!) it for $28 or so. Creamy and luscious, with bright apple fruit balanced with delicate toasty yeast and pure honey notes, this is just wonderful. Excellent on its own, but also quite versatile with food. Pop a bottle the next time you are nibbling on smoked salmon and see what I mean!

- The Houses first Grand Brut - the wine that firmly established its fine reputation - dates back to the middle of the 19th century. This Champagne combines the great wines of the Cote des Blancs, the Montagne de Reims, and the Marne Valley, and is a blend of 20 % Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Pinot Meunier. Lovely aromas and flavors of tropical fruit, citrus, spice and yeast. The fine, persistent mousse has a very fresh aroma and is lively and golden. This is a creamy, round, rich, balanced champagne with flavors of fresh apples and lemons and a lingering finish.

- An elegant, fruity style. This wine has clean citric and toasty aromas and is light in body.
