Perdera DOC 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

FANTASTIC value and leading contender to become my new pizza wine. screaming QPR with luscious fruit, great polish and some nice little weight and kick to it.

Nothing to shout from the rooftops about. Solid pizza wine without a lot of fireworks on the finish.

Beautiful Wine. Cooked raspberry, golden raisin, allspice, dark fruits, and pepper on the nose, with apple peel, unripe pear, leather, a hint of wildflowers, and luscious earthy tones in the mouth. Very long finish with well-structured tannins and just enough acidity. Definitely a great wine, especially for the price.

Another awesome dark cherry, herbs and spice bomb from the Mediterranean. A must drink at $13!

Tasty red with a nice balance. Nice nose, enjoyable finish. Complimented a spicy Italian dish very well and really capped a great meal.

I don't know much about wine, but my boyfriend's cheeks always turn bright red (and warm to the touch) whenever he drinks alcohol, especially red wine (Rosacea??). We shared an entire bottle of this and his checks never turned red. Why do you suppose this is? We wondered if it was because it had low Tannins. We tried the wine because we read that The Sardinian's drink this wine regularly and are generally some of the healthiest and longest living people because of their diet.

This is made from the Cannonau grape, better known as Grenache in most of the world. This is a rich wine that tastes of Southern Italy: let its leather and dark-berried fruit swirl onto your palate and you'll be transported. The tannins are just right and mildly spiced with aromas of nutmeg.

Monica di Sardegna, a grape of Spanish origin, produces a dry, ruby-red table wine on the Mediterranean island of Sardinia. This soft, easy-drinking bottle hails from Antonio Argiolas's winery, located outside of Caligari, the capital city.

Wine Advocate ReviewRated 90The 2006 Costera Isola dei Nuraghi (100% Cannonau) is another knock-out effort from Argiolas. It reveals masses of super-ripe fruit bacon fat and licorice flavors. Today the fruit remains enshrouded in a wall of tannins so a year or two of further bottle age is called for, but this is a magnificent wine especially at this level. Cannonau is believed to be a descendant of Grenache and this wine will especially appeal to readers who enjoy the flavor profile of wines from the Southern Rhone. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2014.Wine Tasting NotesIntense ruby red tending to purple, due to its period of ageing. Intensely perfumed, typical of Cannonau. Rich, well-rounded, satisfying, with a good structure, characteristic in its unmistakable bouquet - this wine is long-lived if well preserved in the bottle.
