There’s an off-putting hint of turpentine on the nose but other wise this has the typical cocoa tinged black fruits with clovey oak notes of most Merlot. Fairly rich in the mouth and well balanced with fresh, if simple red fruits. The turpentine shows up as a top note of refreshing balsam. This is a simple Merlot that is easy drinking with no special effects. Nice to be able to pull out but not going to impress anyone.
Four and a half glasses
Don't let the simplicity of the label foul you...A noise of Wild Dark Berries and Peppercorns, first the earthness with herb then a smooth light cocoa taste to finish with a hint of smoke. Picked it up on a closeout for $3.50 a bottle and will go back for more.
Not terrible. I was expecting worse. Currant and tobacco on the nose. Dark and heavy on the tongue. Dried cherry and earth with a fairly long finish.
I like this wine, I just don't love this wine. I find that it needs food with it to help round out the taste. I tend to have a glass of the Loon with dinner once in a while but it is not my "after work grab a glass" wine that I look for. On a more positive note my wife does like this wine also so I do keep purchasing it and it is a simple wine to enjoy.
too spicy for me. gave left over to hokie but good for the price.
an only an amateur wine lover, i can say that it was quite a treat to have this! fruity, extremely drinkable... it was great!
