What to Expect

Syrah: One of the few grapes to really be a global success. Syrah combines a meaty core of ripe berry fruit with tones that range from herbal to peppery in a package that tends to be medium bodied with good acidity and softer tannins. With age the wines can gain lovely leathery and black olive notes that make them a great match for savory and gamy dishes.

Reviews

Rating: 93/100 - As reviewed by Vinfolio in Issue 75 Primarily sourced from the Del Rio Vineyard in Rogue Valley, there are also grapes from Columbia Valley in the wine. The nose shows classic Syrah black pepper with underlying licorice and ripe, dark fruits, cherry, plum and huckleberry. The mouth shows off beautifully framed cassis, blueberry and pepper. Here is an Oregon Syrah that makes a lot of California examples seem simple in comparison. Another great Oregon value.
