Penner Ash Shea Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2010
Glass filling aromatics of fresh plum, vanilla bean, Asian spice, and tobacco leaf. The palate is elegant and lush, featuring a creamy mid mouth feel. Evocative flavors of ripe and candied cherries, strawberry, red currant and toasted oak are framed by refined tannins that finishes long and focused.
Lynn started Penner-Ash Wine Cellars with husband Ron in 1998, carefully crafting small amounts of Pinot noir and Syrah, while she was still at Rex Hill. Their early success with the label caused them to dream of what they could create and in 2001 they began building the Penner-Ash brand full time. Penner-Ash has achieved impressive growth, going from 125 cases of Pinot noir in 1998 to a projected 8,000 cases of Pinot noir and Syrah in 2007.
Great pinot noir. Notes of cherry and raspberry open up to deeper black fruit and time passes. Medium bodied with smooth and unobtrusive tannins. Goes well with a variety of dishes from fish to steak to fowl.
