Penner-Ash Riesling Willamette Valley 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

Rieslings don't get much drier than this! Crisp minerality bright almost tart-like fruit and a dry - very dry - finish that will make your mouth pucker. If you like your whites dry Penner-Ash's Riesling is a must have!

Penner-Ash:
Lynn started Penner-Ash Wine Cellars with husband Ron in 1998, carefully crafting small amounts of Pinot noir and Syrah, while she was still at Rex Hill. Their early success with the label caused them to dream of what they could create and in 2001 they began building the Penner-Ash brand full time. Penner-Ash has achieved impressive growth, going from 125 cases of Pinot noir in 1998 to a projected 8,000 cases of Pinot noir and Syrah in 2007.

Floral on the nose with rich honeysuckle notes and deep notes of honeycomb. Remarkably floral. Very fruity on the palate with rich golden raspberry tones and a touch of steely minerality that gives this a nice underlying bitter tension. This seems to have a touch of tannin. Very interesting if somewhat unusual Riesling. 88pts
