Relying on the Penfolds quality name -I purchased a bottle of Penfolds Koonunga Hill Chardonnay 2007 at Woolworths Liquor in Griffith, NSW, Australia, 15 October 2009. Reduced to $10.97. The nose evoked honey but on the palate was a displeasing after taste similar to honey when over heated. I summise that the wine in this bottle is oxidised - a lingering after taste of fermented straw with acidic overtones..

Eine reife Frische, die den reichen Körper perfekt stützt, Ananas und Grünteenoten. Bis am Schluss zartcremig und fein würzig, ein perfekter Seafoodbegleiter.
Koonunga Hill whites are well proportioned wines with distinctive primary fruit characters and good levels of intensity. They are a step up from the Rawson's Retreat whites with more concentration and fruit power. The Chardonnay which is matured for several months in small French oak barriques is a richer style with plenty of varietal definition and creamy flavors. The Koonunga Hill Chardonnay is considered by many to be amongst Australia's best value whites delivering wine quality at an affordable pricepoint.
Frisches Bouquet nach Melonen und Nektarinen duftend. Feine Tannine, ausgewogen und harmonisch, weicher und sauberer Abgang. Ein sehr angenehm zu trinkender Wein.

This utterly unmistakable Australian name, which evokes associations with organic momentum and vintage-by-vintage effort, captures the true essence and culture of Penfolds’ winemaking philosophy.Ever since the first vintage in 1995, the evolution of Yattarna has become one of Penfolds’ most fascinating stories and nearly two decades of dedicated research, blending and refinement is now producing a revelational release each vintage. Modern day Yattarna has become even finer, more elegant and focused, with ageing potential of up to a decade in strong vintages. Yattarna is redefining Australian chardonnay at a time when premium Australian chardonnay has never been better.On the nose, it is at once, noticeably different to the Bin A Chardonnay. This Chardonnay expression exudes a limey citrus restraint where cantaloupe, cured bacon rind and subtle, spicy oak give way to complex nut kernel and pecan pie complexities. On palate an explosion of citrus and white stone fruits prelude a layered and creamy custard apple-like mid palate. A core of fine, mineral, lemony acid skates across the entire palate, projecting great length of flavour and linearity. Rabbit, candied lemon peel, pumpkin 'tears', bacon, coffee and coriander seed or Kingfish carpaccio would pair beautifully with this sublime wine.
