Penfolds Shiraz St Henri 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Color: Dark garnet with a deep core. Nose: Floral, perfumed, fresh. Boiled-fruitcake mix - nutmeg / cinnamon and mixed spices are laced with glaceed (Cointreau-like) citrus fruits. Subtle praline & liquorice trail on the finish. Palate: Medium to full-bodied with an acid/tannin conveyance propelling flavour to the back-palate. Balanced yet taut, with a continuum of flavours - sarsaparilla, beetroot, lemon, blackcurrant. Nutmeg, red liquorice & pomegranate jump to the fore while juniper, bay leaf & menthol linger on the finish. Lot's happening! The finish? Lacy tannins. No oak.

Aromatic, complex and silky, slipping in its gorgeous blackberry, currant and plum fruit against a seething background of toast, spice, mineral and loamy earth. The texture is seamless, and the flavors just take off, sailing through the long, expressive finish. Best from 2011 through 2020. 1,000 cases imported. -HS ** Only 1 in Stock **

Here is an extraordinary wine, ranked #24 on the Wine Spectator’s Top 100. The St. Henri Shiraz is one of Penfolds’ iconic wines. The grapes are sourced from the absolute best regions for Shiraz; Barossa, Adelaide Hills, McClaren Vale, Clare Valley and Langhorn Creek. A small portion of Cabernet Sauvignon is added to the blend for structure. Wine Spectator scored it 95 points and said “Aromatic, complex and silky, slipping in its gorgeous blackberry, currant and plum fruit against a seething background of toast, spice, mineral and loamy earth. The texture is seamless, and the flavors just take off, sailing through the long, expressive finish. Best from 2011 through 2020.” Only 1,000 cases were produced. Extremely Limited! not sponsored by or affiliated with The Wine Spectator, The Wine Advocate or the International Wine Cellar. This item excluded from any other discounts or offers beyond the 15% case discount.

Deep ruby-red. Sexy aromas of blackberry, blueberry, incense, dried flowers, cola and vanilla. Lush, creamy and sweet, offering deep dark berry compote flavors, velvety texture and mounting spiciness. The sweet dark berry notes echo through a striki... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Syrah wine from South Australia in Australia. 2005 Penfolds Shiraz St Henri 375ml
