This is a juicy red wine . Losts of fruit with some spice plus plenty of wood and structure from the cab with a smooth finish. Good value too. What a great bbq wine with red meats.

Launched in 1976, this blend of Shiraz and Cabernet represents a value-driven introduction to Penfold's stellar line of Australian reds. They achieve consistent high quality in this firm, fruity bottling, which also has great aging potential.

Deep ruby. Smoky cherry and blueberry aromas are complicated by notes of licorice and espresso. Deep, chewy dark berry flavors are framed by supple tannins and given a bitter edge by anise and cherry pit qualities. Just a bit ungiving right now.

Lithe and appealing for its gentleness, focusing its raspberry, currant and dusky herb flavors into a lovely beam that shines through a refined finish. Drink now through 2009.
