Penfolds Koonunga Hill Seventy Six Barossa Valley 2006

Member Review by Lucha Vino:

Dark inky purple color with plum, dark fruit and some hints of pepper on the nose and palate with a cedar tart dry finish, As the wine breaths and opens up there are stronger notes of pepper on the palate and finish along with overtones of vanilla and semi-sweet chocolate on the palate and finish.

Penfolds Koonunga Hill:
Koonunga Hill is a wine produced by Penfolds, one of Australia’s most famous wineries. The wine is named for the location of one of their Barossa Valley vineyards, first produced by winemaker Don Ditter in 1976 as a Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon blend. Today, Chief Winemaker is Peter Gago, and the range consists of the flagship blend as well as single varietal Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, a Cabernet/Merlot blend and Chardonnay.
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
