Penfolds Koonunga Hill Chardonnay Barossa Valley/Eden Valley Blanc 2011
To produce Penfold's Koonunga Hill Chardonnay, the winemakers blend the best parcels of fruit from different areas in order to produce consistently high quality wines from each vintage. A lighter to medium bodied Chardonnay with distinctive primary fruit characters, sustained intensity and a subtle underlay of moderate oak.
Koonunga Hill is a wine produced by Penfolds, one of Australia’s most famous wineries. The wine is named for the location of one of their Barossa Valley vineyards, first produced by winemaker Don Ditter in 1976 as a Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon blend. Today, Chief Winemaker is Peter Gago, and the range consists of the flagship blend as well as single varietal Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, a Cabernet/Merlot blend and Chardonnay.
