A butter bomb on a diet, the 2004 vintage from Penfold’s affordable Koonunga Hill line is a trimmer version of oaked chardonnay that cuts the fat, while still managing to dole out deliciously dangerous levels of aroma and flavour. Small barrique aging has led to a liberal dollop of oak spice, char, and buttered popcorn on the nose. Melon, apple crisp, and vanilla are added to the mix on the palate, which nonetheless manages to seem pleasantly tight and restrained. Low in flab, high in character.

Round, with pear and pepper flavors, echoing softly. Drink now.

This full-flavored wine has an appealing immediacy, with honeydew melon and nutmeg spicy sweetness on the mid-palate and a lively green apple edge maintaining freshness throughout. Maturation on lees has conferred a malty, creamy texture with subtle characters of creme caramel at the back. The tight core of fresh fruit gives depth and a lingering finish to this finely crafted wine.

A refreshingly crisp, dry white wine featuring grapefruit and honey-like flavors.

A lively and delicious wine with bright mango and apple fruit in a have-another-glass-mate style. Just a fun wine to hang with.

Light and brisk up front, this chardonnay builds to a plump, soft finish. A savory-sweet Aussie, chill this leesy white for aperitifs.

Soft, easy, tropical and sweet from beginning to end. This is just the no-brainer that people who want an inexpensive Aussie Chard are looking for. A good quaff.
